Featuring: Real Estate and PV: The impact of residential solar on the real estate market
The impact of solar on our rooftops really hasn’t been on many people’s minds and certainly not on the radar of most real estate brokers, but that’s all about to change.
Today many real estate professionals are thinking strategically about sustainability issues and staying relevant to their clients. Ecobrokers are becoming leaders in providing a new generation with the service and the expertise they expect. Millennials are the next wave of home buyers and there’s evidence to predict they’ll be demanding to know about the maintenance and energy costs of home ownership. Buyers have looked at seller’s utility bills to get an idea of how much it cost to live in a particular home’s conditioned space. Problem is, this data doesn’t correlate and has much more to do with behavior and/or requirements of the current occupants than the home itself. A home energy test will actually test the system performance of a home and score it.
