As more consumers understand the benefits of renewable energy and clean transportation, demand for these products are sky-rocketing. Between 2013 and 2014 alone, registrations for battery electric vehicles doubled while solar installations increased by 40%. Digging deeper into the data, an important trend surfaces: 85% of consumers who would like to purchase an electric vehicle have either favorable or very favorable views toward solar energy (Navigant Research's 2012 Energy & Environment Consumer Survey). Why is this and why does it matter?
Solar Oregon will be partnering with Drive Oregon for an event on Tuesday, September 23rd to take a closer look at these and other questions at the intersection of electric vehicle and solar power markets. We’ll explore how large the business opportunities are within this arena and how major industry players are working - either separately or in never-before-seen partnerships - to take advantage of the new “EV + PV” market.
Our event will feature three knowledgeable professionals - from the solar industry and the electric vehicle charging industry - to support a rich discussion on how the two industries can compliment each other as they work to serve this new kind of customer:
- Maryline Daviaud Lewett, Senior Manager of Business Development for the EV Business, will speak on behalf of Schneider Electric, a global energy management firm with operations in over 100 countries. Schneider Electric provides EV charging stations and is currently exploring this new market of EV + PV.
- Marvin Talbert, Business Development Leader, will be speaking on behalf of Solar World, the largest U.S. solar manufacturer for the last 35 years. Both Maryline and Marvin will share their unique experiences and insight on this topic from the viewpoint of business development professional.
- Additionally, we will be bringing in Keith Knowles, Regional Sales Manager in Oregon, from Solar City, America's largest solar provider. Keith is Solar City's Regional Sales Manager in Oregon, and will utilize his experience as a solar sales professional to balance out this comprehensive discussion.
