Help us kick off
a new fund for community-shared solar!
The City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS), in collaboration with Portland Parks and Recreation (PPR) and Solar Oregon, is launching Solar Forward, a new program to engage community members in funding renewable energy projects on publicly-owned facilities.Community solar makes participating in solar energy development accessible to a wider, more diverse audience of Portlanders, including renters, homeowners with shaded properties, and those who cannot afford to install their own solar energy system. Solar Forward's first PV system will be installed at the Southwest Community Center. This first demonstration of community solar in Portland will pave the way for more projects on under-utilized public rooftops in Oregon.
Volunteer with Solar Forward:
Volunteers will engage the public about the Solar Forward initiative, explain project details, and give people the opportunity to participate. Volunteers will represent Solar Forward at outreach events in SW Portland and throughout the city.
A second volunteer training will be held August 1st; see event calendar for details. Want
to come volunteer with Solar Forward but can't make it to the
trainings? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
