Looking for work in solar? The industry is growing rapidly, and it can be difficult to know where to begin. Below are a list of resources and links to help you on the path.
Solar Today - This magazine, published by the American Solar Energy Society, has an excellent article about training workers for the Green Trades. This is a great place to start, and will help you understand your options.
Educate Yourself About Solar - Many organizations offer training and education for people who want to learn more about solar. Solar Oregon workshops help consumers understand the solar market, but are a great way to start learning about the solar landscape and the industry in general. In addition, there are many solar educators, organizations, and degree programs available.
Get Licensed as a Solar Installer - In Oregon, you must have the appropriate licenses if you wish to do installation work. For a detailed summary of required licenses see OSEIA's list here or consult ODOE's info page for solar professionals.
Oregon has a very structured apprenticeship program
if you wish to install PV or solar thermal systems (or you can be
licensed as a journey man plumber or electrician). The apprenticeship
