Solar water heating

Learn how solar water heaters work, how they save energy, what incentives exist, and how to find an installer.

Pence Place SWHAmericans have been using solar water heating systems for more than 100 years. A solar water heater uses the sun’s energy to heat water. When solar-preheated water goes to your conventional tank or tankless water heater, it saves energy.

Significant financial incentives are available to help you install a new solar water heating system, which are less expensive than photovoltaic systems.

There are several different types of solar water heating systems to choose from. Today’s solar water heating systems are very reliable, are designed for protection from freezing, require very little maintenance and have a life-expectancy of 20 years or more. They are installed by professional, licensed installers.

Solar water heating systems can also be used in many commercial applications, as well as for heating swimming pools.
