Solar Oregon selected a home built by Cellar Ridge Custom Homes of McMinnville to be on its Goal Net Zero Home Tour, according to owner John Mead. Zero energy use is possible by generating as much renewable energy on site as is used.

Each year, Solar Oregon selects four exemplary homes which have approached or reached net zero. The Cellar Ridge home, sited in Portland, obtained Energy Star and High Performance Home certification, and is a candidate for LEED-H Platinum rating by U.S. Green Building Council, with a final determination expected in May.

The tour is open to homeowners, designers, builders and real estate professionals who are interested in high performance homes. Continuing education credits are available for professionals.
