Annual Meeting Reflects on 2013 Highlights

Thanks to everyone who braved the coldest Saturday in a long time and attended our annual meeting on December 7th.  Yes, it was 20 degrees outside, but it was plenty warm and cozy in the Billy Frank Conference Center at the Ecotrust Building in Portland, Oregon. During the Annual Membership Meeting, we took the opportunity to reflect on the highlights of 2013 – the end of our 34th year as an organization.  Mac spoke about what is ahead in 2014 and beyond. Emily Krafft walked us through the DOE grant awarded via the Solar Rooftop Challenge II and our role in the newly-created Northwest Solar Communities program.  We introduced our 35TH Anniversary Special Membership drive and the nominees for the Solar Oregon Awards.

Matt Briggs was this year’s featured keynote speaker.  The filmmaker of the documentary feature film “Deep Green”, Matt is offering this DVD free to anyone joining or renewing a membership with Solar Oregon. (Thanks again, Matt!)

Members of our all-volunteer board of directors met following the first session and did the business of the Board, including a review of the bylaws and election of board officers. President Doug Boleyn presided over this second working session. We bid goodbye to departing board members, Ellen Crivella and Todd Gregory, and we discussed how to fill the open seats and considered several candidates who applied. (Thanks Mark, Cam & Gene)
