Letter from the President
Dear Solar Power Supporter,
If you’ve been following our social media posts, newsletter or website, you know what a busy year we’ve had supporting Solarize campaigns scattered across the state in places like Gresham, Hillsboro, Eugene, West Linn-Lake Oswego, and Clackamas County. However, we’ve never seen the likes of what is happening in Oregon this summer … with dozens of cities promoting residential solar, such as Solarize Southern Oregon (Ashland, Klamath Falls, Roseburg, Coos Bay, Brookings, Cottage Grove); Eastern Oregon Rural Action - Union County (La Grande); and also in Central Oregon - Go Solar! (Bend, Prineville, Madras, & Redmond). It is exhilarating!
This year, Solar Oregon will deliver more than 45 community workshops focused on solar energy education, and the quality of our work and level of programs delivered has led us to become the trusted source for unbiased solar information. Combined with outreach activities throughout the entire year, like Goal Net Zero and Solar Now! University, Solar Oregon is leading the way and driving demand for solar energy in our state.
By doing so we influence and support a broader economic impact and provide for cleaner air … all things every Oregonian can benefit from for years to come. We want to expand our influence to new levels in order to meet future challenges, but we need your help to do so. Since we are a small non-profit organization, we rely on memberships, donations, grants and sponsorships in order to support our staff and this mission.
We recently changed our membership offerings and have gained some new members – Welcome!
Yes, indeed, we dropped our membership rates for both individual and family memberships and added several new categories that allow offerings to a wider audience for member recruitment. We now offer a special $20 annual membership “special” to non-members who attend any Solar Oregon function such as a workshop, Solar Drinks, or an event like Solar SUNday if they sign up on the spot.
Lastly, a plea. Fundraising for things such as workshops, outreach and networking events continues to be a challenge. Please consider a donation to Solar Oregon, a gift membership for someone, or renew your own membership today. Our success is made possible by the participation, funding, and work of our dedicated members and your generous donations. Membership and participation is open and welcome to all interested individuals and organizations, so if you’ve never been a member, consider joining now! CLICK HERE.
