Meet the Team - Doug Boleyn
Solar Oregon Board’s President-Elect
Doug Boleyn hasbeen involved in solar energy since building his first residence with a solar heating system back in 1974. His experience with renewables is long and vast. For 22 years he was employed at PGE as solar/renewable energy consultant and he also developed conservation marketing programs. Upon leaving PGE in 1998, he was owner and principal of Cascade Solar Consulting, LLC, where he performed a range of renewable energy consulting, engineering, design, and project management focused on grid-tie photovoltaic and solar thermal (solar space and water heating) systems. He was most recently employed by the Energy Trust of Oregon as its Commercial Solar Program Manager for three years before his recent retirement in 2012.
Doug received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1970 from Oregon State University and is a registered P.E. (professional engineer) in Oregon. Over the past 30 plus years, he’s had numerous papers published in professional journals on a variety of renewable energy topics. Throughout his long career he has served on numerous governmental working panels and advisory committees, the most recent of which was the Renewable Advisory Committee for the Energy Trust of Oregon from 2002-2009.
We are fortunate, and a bit proud, that Doug Boleyn is a Lifetime Member of both Solar Oregon and the American Solar Energy Society. He and his wife Emily are now enjoying their second solar home in Happy Valley, OR, which was featured on the 2010 Goal Net Zero Tour. Doug continues to monitor and collect data related to their objective to reach “Net Zero.” He is often a featured speaker talking on this this subject, including some of our Solar Drinks events in Portland. Meet Doug at the upcoming Solar Now! University in Coos Bay, OR, where he’ll be a participant, speaker, and solar celebrity.
