U.S. Department of Transportation funding for 13 more fast-charge electric vehicle charging stations was touted by Oregon's democratic senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden Tuesday.

Oregon's Department of Transportation received $1.3 million to add to its "Electric Highway" infrastructure.

Last month, Oregon celebrated the fact that it has the longest stretch of electrified road in the country with the unveiling of the first eight fast-charging stations installed at key points along Interstate 5.

That project calls for 22 of the charging stations when the project will complete and the additional funding will add another 13 to major roadways.
