Oregon is No. 9 in the country when it comes to clean energy job creation, a new report shows.

Oregon ranks No. 9 for clean energy jobs planned in the first quarter of 2012, a new report shows.

In the first quarter, 1,975 total new clean energy job announcements were reported in Oregon, according to an analysis from Environmental Entrepreneurs. Those jobs stem from six formally announced projects.

Of those jobs, 40 are from projects in progress — any project in construction or any program that has been initiated — and 1,935 are from projects in the earlier stages of development.

Nationwide, clean energy employers released plans for at least 137 projects in 42 states, accounting for as many as 46,000 future jobs.

Power-generation companies was the leading sector, as wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and other renewable energy industries announced 68 projects and 18,000 jobs. Manufacturing companies also announced 35 projects and more than 10,000 jobs.

Here is a list of the top 10 states and their number of clean energy jobs announced in the first quarter:
