Portland General Electric provides $500 grant for Solar Oregon's K-12 curriculum project!
Solar Oregon Board Member Bruce Barney
recently applied for and won $500 in grant funding from Portland
General Electric (PGE) to support Solar Oregon's k-12 solar curriculum
efforts.
In 2010, Solar Oregon partnered with 4-H Youth Services to build a K-12 energy curriculum focused on solar power. This curriculum was designed to help teachers meet the Engineering and Design benchmarks set by the state of Oregon to increase youth participation and interest in science and engineering, and pairs teachers with volunteers from the solar industry. The pilot for this curriculum was introduced successfully last year at several middle schools in Clackamas County.
This generous grant from PGE will allow Solar Oregon to expand this program into additional schools in the tri-county area. Thank you, Bruce Barney and PGE!
