Portland seeks Solar Forward suggestions

The Solar Forward program is backing a project at the Oliver P. Lent school in Portland.

The Solar Forward program continues to move, fittingly, forward.

Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is looking for submissions from parties that want to host the next photovoltaic system as part of the Solar Forward program. The sites would own and operate a PV array on their property.

The program is limited to public and non-profit sector organizations and entities.

BPS established the Solar Forward program as a way to spur community-based development and funding mechanisms for solar electric systems.

Solar Forward is responsible for a 10-kilowatt array at the Southwest Community Center. It is also working on a second project at the Oliver P. Lent Elementary School. Construction on that Southeast Portland effort is set to begin this summer.
