Request for Applications: Customer Representatives for the Oregon Portfolio Options Committee

A renewable energy advisory committee is seeking new citizen members to represent utility residential and small commercial customers.

The state of Oregon requires private electric utilities to offer renewable energy rate options to residential and small commercial customers. As a result, Pacific Power offers Blue Sky (
http://www.pacificpower.net/env/bsre.html), Portland General Electric offers Green Source (www.greenpoweroregon.com), and Northwest Natural voluntarily offers a carbon offset program called Smart Energy (www.nwnatural.com/smartenergy). These programs primarily purchase renewable energy credits and carbon offsets and retire these credits on behalf of enrolled customers.

The Oregon Public Utility Commission oversees compliance with rate requirements and established the Portfolio Options Committee (
http://www.puc.state.or.us/Pages/electric_restruc/indices/pac.aspx) to advise the Commission on program implementation. The Portfolio Options Committee, or POC, includes stakeholder organizations and customer representatives. The POC is currently recruiting additional customer representatives to enhance participation from customers of all utilities in both the residential and small commercial sectors.

Interested parties should send qualifications, a statement of your interest, your utility service provider and whether you would be representing yourself or a small business, to the POC chair, Rebecca O’Neil, Oregon Department of Energy, at
rebecca.oneil@odoe.state.or.us by September 30, 2013. Enrollment in one of the associated programs is strongly preferred, but not required. The POC retains sole discretion in determining candidates for the committee, including the right to screen for perceived conflicts of interest and the right not to select any new candidates for the committee.
