3.2 kW System for 2013 Community Vision SE Portland ADA Project

Solar for All, Inc. has agreed to provide a 3.2kW solar electric system on an upcoming affordable housing construction project in SE Portland’s Lents neighborhood. The home will be designed and built by Community Vision, Inc. to meet ADA specifications for a to-be-determined special needs family in the greater Portland, Oregon area.  Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2013.

Solar for All, Inc. is a local, non-profit (501(c)3 status pending) dedicated to providing low income families free solar energy to reduce their utility bills, and carbon footprints.  We partner with local housing organizations by purchasing solar electric systems for affordable housing projects at no cost to the partner organization, or their supported families.  Solar for All utilizes the Oregon Solar Income Tax Credit Pass-Through program, and available Energy Trust of Oregon incentives to fund the majority of the installation cost for each project. The remaining funds are raised through philanthropic donations.

Community Vision, Inc. works to make Oregon a place where people with developmental disabilities can live, work, and thrive in whatever communities they choose. We offer a network of services- including supported living, independent housing and homeownership, and employment services- to make this possible.

Community Vision will be building a new ADA accessible home on the lot at 8744 SE Rural St. beginning in June of 2013.  The 3.2kW SolarWorld solar electric system to be provided by Solar for All (acting as an independent fundraiser on behalf of Community Vision) is expected to cover 100% of the home’s heating/cooling load when paired with an advanced cold-climate, or all-climate heat pump, dramatically reducing the home-owners’ annual utility costs.

Solar for All is currently looking for both corporate, and private, partners to assist in raising funds for this, and future, projects to provide solar energy for Portland’s low income families.  Please contact us if you are interested in supporting our efforts.
