Solar Oregon Announces New Executive Director
The Solar Oregon Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Ron “Mac” McDowell as our new Executive Director. Many of our members and associates already know Mac. Over the past five years he has served Solar Oregon in many capacities as a volunteer – as a member; workshop presenter; Solar Ambassador; solarize project leader; writer and promoter; a board member; and most recently the president of the board.
Mac will lead Solar Oregon’s work to bolster existing programs and pursue development in creating new programs that enhance the mission of leading the way to a clean energy future by demonstrating the successful use of solar energy in Oregon. He has always been connected to our cause and mission in a deep and meaningful way and we’re excited to welcome him as our new Executive Director.
“Mac knows solar energy in Oregon better than almost anybody,” said current board president, Doug Boleyn. “Not only has he worked hands-on in the solar market, but also on policy issues across the state. His expert technical and communication skills are huge assets for Solar Oregon.”
McDowell is an expert in Change Management and has worked as a professional project manager for over twenty years. He recently served on Earthshare Oregon’s Board of Directors. He holds a certificate in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Oregon, a certificate in Advanced Project Management from Portland State University, and Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
