MADRAS, Ore. -- NeighborImpact, in partnership with Oregon Housing and Community Services, will be installing a 68,000-watt solar panel system on three buildings at the Madras Townhomes complex in Madras.
Financial support for this project originated from a US Department of Energy (DOE) grant through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Besides NeighborImpact, only four other community action agencies throughout Oregon received this grant.“This grant was a great opportunity to bring a large scale solar project to Central Oregon,” commented Laura Fritz, Housing Center Director at NeighborImpact. “Just as energy use increased with the onset of colder weather this program will enable Madras Townhomes residents to save money on their electric bills.”NeighborImpact contracted with E2 Solar from Bend to complete work on this project. The winner of a statewide competitive bid process, E2 Solar has completed local projects at Miller Elementary School, the Redmond Airport and Healy Heights.
