SolarWorld plans to hire 350 more workers, including soldiers returning from the Mideast, by Sept. 30 at its Hillsboro factories.

The German company is completing its planned expansion in Oregon even as several competitors phase out U.S. production to shift overseas. The Hillsboro site, which currently has 650 employees, will increase to a total of about 1,000 workers making solar cells and modules.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski calls SolarWorld a great Oregon success story. "This next phase opens the doors of opportunity for hundreds of Oregonians seeking employment," he said, "and advances the production of clean, renewable energy."

Job seekers can track employment postings and find application instructions at solarworld-usa.com.
