Welcome to our new Program Manager, Joshua Baker

Meet Joshua Baker

Last month we added a new staff member to manage the Northwest Solar Communities (NWSC) program for Solar Oregon. His name is Josh Baker and he’ll be working on reducing and removing ‘soft cost’ barriers to getting solar installed in the region. Josh will serve on the NWSC Steering and Permitting Committees and will oversee projects associated with the solarize communities mini-grants as outlined in this newsletter. Additionally, Josh will work with Energy Trust of Oregon on our solar basics workshop offerings and other outreach events and commitments as required.

Joshua grew up on a small family farm in upstate New York, before attending Arcadia University in Pennsylvania. After he earned a B.A. degree, he came to Portland to help direct outreach campaigns on behalf of different organizations, including the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters. He continued to develop community organizing experience serving as a campus organizer for the Oregon Student Association before joining Focus the Nation’s staff. Outside of supporting the efforts to bring more solar energy to the Northwest, Josh has a strong interest in active transportation, land-use, and hockey (Go Winterhawks!)

Josh will be at Solar Now! University so stop by to introduce yourself and welcome him to the team.
