Originally crafted by SE Uplift in Southeast Portland on the initiative of a Mt. Tabor Neighborhood Association leader, the first iteration of the Solarize Portland project became hugely successful. It quickly expanded to become a partnership between several SE Portland neighborhoods under the guidance of SE Uplift. From the 20-30 initially projected installations the program grew to around 120 residential installations in just six months. This unexpected success has led to more projects under way now in other neighborhoods of Portland and other cities in Oregon.
