SUMMARY:Solar Showcase: Wynne Watts Commons
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a panel discussion and tour of Albertina Kerr’s new net-zero inclusive housing development\, Wynne Watts Commons! \nAlbertina Kerr is a local nonprofit that “empowers people with intellectual and developmental disabilities\, mental health challenges\, and other social barriers to lead self-determined lives and reach their full potential.” \nAs part of this mission\, Kerr has recently opened Wynne Watts Commons\, which offers 150 affordable units\, 30 of which are universally accessible. On top of creating accessible and affordable housing for the residents of Gresham\, Oregon’s Wilkes East Neighborhood\, Wynne Watts is also sustainable! The solar panels on the roof of the complex provide enough electricity to make this building net-zero. \nThis is a great opportunity to learn more about how Albertina Kerr was able to develop such an innovative project. RVSP to reserve your spot! \nThis event is possible thanks to the generous support of Energy Trust of Oregon!

SUMMARY:What's Happening in Solar Recycling?
DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, solar panel installations have grown exponentially. Because solar modules can last upwards of 25 years\, the question of recycling has been pushed to the back burner. This is beginning to change\, as the end-of-life for the first wave of solar panels approaches. In fact\, the International Renewable Energy Association estimates there will be 80 million metric tons of PV waste by 2050 globally. That’s a lot of waste to manage! \nThere are solutions\, however\, and our panelists have key insight into what they are. Come join us on December 13th to hear from: \nDustin Mulvaney – Professor of Environmental Studies at San Jose State University and author of Solar Power: Innovation\, Sustainability\, and Environmental Justice. \nRobert Nicolson – Manager of PV Recycling at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). \nChris Regis – Owner of Green Century Electronic Recycling\, a SEIA PV Recycling Partner. \nRSVP here. This free educational event is made possible by generous support from the Energy Trust of Oregon. Thank you!
