SUMMARY:Zero Energy Home Tour: Ichijo's Reed's Crossing
DESCRIPTION:In the market for a new home? Curious about clean energy for your home or business? Join the nonprofit Solar Oregon for the latest in a series of zero energy site showcases that demonstrate the value of combining solar and energy efficiency in a new home or business. \nOn January 26th we will take a guided tour of a model home in Ichijo’s Reed’s Crossing neighborhood in Hillsboro\, Oregon. Ichijo is a Japanese builder that specializes in high performance and technologically capable homes. The Reed’s Crossing neighborhood is one of the first “zero-energy-ready” housing tracts in Oregon\, making it a trend-setter in sustainable development. Before construction\, each home is modeled to ensure that it can achieve zero net energy use over the course of a typical year through a combination of efficiency and rooftop solar-readiness. \nEnjoy a guided tour of the site\, get your questions answered about solar and energy efficiency\, and meet other clean energy enthusiasts. Masks are required. Thank you to Ichijo\, and to our sponsor Energy Trust of Oregon.

SUMMARY:Solar Lessons from Pendleton\, OR
DESCRIPTION:Pendleton\, OR is a small city that packs a big punch when it comes to solar and energy efficiency. Since he first began planning for the installation of solar on a municipal water filtration plant in 2006\, Pendleton Public Works Director Bob Patterson has led the implementation of dozens of innovative energy projects. His work and the work of other dedicated city staff has culminated in over 7 MW of solar energy; an innovative hydroelectric generator attached to an Aquifer Storage and Recovery system; and widespread consumer adoption of solar and energy efficiency–all this in a city with a population of 17\,000. Speakers include: \nBob Patterson – Since 2003\, Mr. Patterson has been the Public Works Director for the City of Pendleton. He is responsible for administrative and leadership oversight in directing work assignments\, construction and maintenance efforts\, and overall completion of projects. The Public Works Department consists of Administration & Fleet Division\, Sewer Division\, Streets Division\, and Water Division for a total of 35 employees. The annual operating budget for the Department is just over $17\,000\,000 annually\, with over $20\,000\,000 in capital projects slated for the current fiscal year. Bob was the recipient of the Top Ten Leader of the Year award from the National American Public Works Association in 2016. \nAdditional speakers TBD! \nPlease join the nonprofit Solar Oregon in an interactive webinar to hear the remarkable energy story of Pendleton\, Oregon.
