Solar Oregon mission
Solar Oregon is a non-profit membership organization providing public education and community outreach to encourage Oregonians to choose solar energy.
We are a 501(c)(3) membership-based, non-profit, educational organization with over 20 years of history supporting solar energy throughout the state. Solar Oregon is the Oregon state chapter for the American Solar Energy Society, and a founding member of Earth Share of Oregon, a workplace giving organization.
Major programs:
- Educational workshops
- 1-hour “Basics of Going Solar” workshop
- Series of 3-hour workshops on topics: Solar Electricity, Solar Hot Water, Passive Solar Design, Energy Efficiency
- Presentations and educational workshops to communities and collaborative efforts with local sustainability groups
- Solar home tours
- Coordinate and support organizers of local tours statewide
- Help coordinate Portland’s Build It Green tour
- Green + Solar magazine
- Nominate and select featured sites
- Write feature articles
- Submit photos
- Public outreach at energy/environment-related events
- Provide general solar energy information
- Promote Energy Trust of Oregon solar incentives and City of Portland’s Solar Now! campaign

The organization:
Solar Oregon consists of volunteers, members, board members, and staff. The current staffing level includes the Executive Director, Program and Events Director, and a part time Education and Outreach Coordinator.
